A boy of an immigrant from either Ghana, Mohammed was raised in Chicago & attended senior high at Kenwood Academy. Mohammed was the member of the University of Kentucky team which won the NCAA Championship in 1998. He entered a NBA Draft after his junior year & was selected per Utah Jazz in a first around, when the Twenty-ninth pick overall. Utah traded his rights to the Philadelphia 76ers, with whom he spent ii and a half seasons. He so played for the Atlanta Hawks through the middle of the 2004 season, at which point he went to the New York Knicks.

Mohammed split a a 2004-2005 season between the Knicks & the Spurs (world health organization acquired him inside a trade for Malik Rose).
